Supporting Local Business in a Crisis

Supporting Local Business in a Crisis

April 12, 2021

Want to ensure your favorite local spots are around after the pandemic? Here’s what you can do to help!

Social distancing has had a major impact on local business owners and employees. Many restaurants, retail stores and other small businesses have seen less foot traffic, often leading to painful layoffs and even permanent closures. But you can help by being a mindful consumer.

You might just give your favorite local spots a fighting chance. Start by buying local whenever you can. Farmers markets are a great place to source fresh produce while keeping money in your community. Also, your favorite coffee shop may sell locally roasted beans or branded merchandise. Order delivery or takeout directly from local restaurants. And if you can leave a bigger tip than usual to help support their staff. Consider buying a few gift cards at your favorite bookstore, salon or retail shop. You can use them on future visits or give them away to friends and family.

In uncertain times, the trust & strength of our communities can shine. By doing what we can to support each other, we can begin to build a way forward.
